Oh man, this is a really tempting Groupon offer, and it’s only available until tomorrow! PYT is a nifty burger shop that’s just over the bridge from NJ. They serve some unique burgers, as well as some “adult” milkshakes. (“Adult” meaning booze-y. Although I don’t know how else you could take that…)
I kind of want to pull the trigger and take advantage of the deal myself,
and blog about my burger choices, but I don’t know how often I’d be
able to make it out there to really get the most out of this deal. I’d
most likely only make the trip on the weekend, since I already drive
about 2 hours to work and back each weekday, so that’s be 4-8 burgers a
month.
BURGER MATH TIME!
Okay
let’s be somewhat realistic and say I got 5 burgers a month, the value
ranges from $11-$18 for a burger and fries, the average of that being
$14.50.
5 (Burgers) x $14.50 = $72.50 worth of food a month (Not including Tip)
After
two months of that, it’s already worth the purchase… but that’s a lot
of bad-for-me foods, I have 24 hours to think about it. Comment below if you think I should do it.
I bought these because I wanted to photograph them. I mean, look at them! They’re little 3D gummy shapes of fruits and burgers and stuff. It’s like, my kryptonite. But, I know what I’m getting into. After my experience with 4D Gummies (which were also from Dollar Tree) I knew these would likely be more of a fun visual novelty than a decent candy.
So I am going into this with a healthy amount of skepticism and very low expectations. (Kind of like dating in your 30’s, am I right? Self-burn.)
Let’s jump right into it!
First up, mini Fast Food. A mixture of cola cups, containers of French fries, and mini burgers.
Cola(brown x tan) - Cola flavored, it’s lighter than Haribo’s cola flavoring, and with a much MUCH stiffer chew. I like cola gummies, but this is just a bit too weak for me, flavor-wise.
Fries(red x tan) - A weird, generically fruity, but also Twizzler-like flavor. I can’t quote place this one. It’s sweet, tangy, and bright, but also on the weaker end, flavor-wise. Maybe fruit punch? I kind of get a hint of orange or some kind of citrus. Again, it’s pleasant, but not great.
Burger(red x tan x orange) - am I crazy, or is this pineapple flavored? It’s not quite distinct, or specific, but it has a tropically fruity profile. I found this shape to have the softest chew of the three, which was greatly appreciated. After a few of these my jaw actually started to get a bit tired.
Then we have Fruits, which unlike the mini fast food items, had terrible variety. Of the four fruity flavors, there were only two pineapples, one single green apple, and the rest were grapes and strawberries. A very unbalanced mix.
Grape(purple x green) - Smells like Brach’s fruit snacks. Again, really stiff chew, but the flavoring is pretty spot on for concord grapes. Normally I am not a fan of grape flavored sweets, but this one is decent. It’s fruity, authentic, and has a juicy finish. Surprisingly decent for such a novelty product.
Strawberry(red x green) - Not much of a smell to this one, and not much flavoring either. This is mild, but once the flavoring does get going it’s mainly apple juice with a hint of berries. Kind of like cheap strawberry fruits snacks, it’s bright, but mainly tastes of filler fruit with a kind of Chapstick after taste. Not as good as grape, but not bad.
Pineapple(yellow x green) - A slightly tangy scent, but nothing to write home about. Thankfully it tastes a lot better. Bold, bright, tangy, and surprisingly authentic. Like the grape, this one is a winner, but it’s a bummer I only got two in this bag.
Apple(green x green) - Slightly sweet scent, and it tastes like apple juice with a slight hint of Granny Smith apples. Not as bold as I wanted it to be, but not bad at all. I only got one of them, but thankfully I am not super into apple flavoring. Still, it’s not bad, especially for a novelty gummy from the Dollar Tree.
Of the two, I think the Fruits mix is the better tasting, but all of the candies have this super stiff chew that makes eating them feel like work. (My jaw hates me right now.) I understand that the candy has to be stiff to maintain it’s detailed shapes, but at the end of the day, the main goal for candy is to taste good and be fun to eat. This does neither of those things perfectly. Still, for the novelty, they aren’t that bad. I would probably buy these again, but not as a snack, more-so as edible decorations.
These would make fun cake decorations, or photo props, but as a bag of candy bought purely for consumption? There just isn’t enough substance to warrant picking this over other gummies on the market.
love that this caused so much controversy the thread needed to be locked. over chicken sandwich
gang this does not even scratch the surface
Someone posted a picture of a piece of chicken between two hamburger buns titled “Chicken Burger” to /r/food. Another user commented “Chicken Sandwich” on the post, and was slapped with a 30 day ban by the mods. When they responded to ask why, the mod said
“Correcting someone in public is public shaming, on top of being incorrect, it’s a pretty shitty comment to leave.”
So now /r/food is on lockdown after being spammed with posts titled “Chicken Sandwich” and other variations. The mod that handed the ban down pinned a post doubling down, comparing the situation to “Pride posts that always fill up with bigots” and “removing racists from posts featuring POC”, and including a link on “how to correctly, correct someone.”
because someone commented “Chicken Sandwich” on a post titled “Chicken Burger”.
Okay but this also does not scratch the surface either
It all started when the sandwich guy posted about what happened to him on r/TIFU, which led to a lot of outrage including someone in the comments saying they were also banned from r/food just for saying they had diabetes (this was later confirmed by a mod). All this anger turned into a brigade which resulted in the entire sub being flooded with almost nothing but posts about Chicken Sandwiches, now known as burgergate. The mod who initially instituted the ban then went on to compare fending off spammers to defending the capitol building during the January 6 riot.
You can see in the post that this made it into r/subredditdrama, a community which discusses ongoing drama across reddit. This particular thread in the screenshot is locked, an interesting detail for reasons that come into play later.
Someone else then goes and posts about burgergate on another sub, r/iamveryculinary , which is dedicated to making fun of food related snobbery and drama. This does not go over well, as it turns out that one of the mods of r/food is also a mod of r/iamveryculinary. This mod then proceeds to get slapfights in the comments, which notably includes her saying she would “rain fiery hell upon” anyone who posts chicken sandwiches in r/food, and complaining that she’s so focused on moderating burgergate that she has no time to spend with her kids. People then beg her to forget the chicken sandwich drama and take care of her children. I would love to give you some more details about this incident or tell you the other side, but I can’t since she deleted all the comments of the people she was arguing with so most of what we have left is just the things she herself said.
Someone then goes on to post about the r/iamveryculinary drama on r/subredditdrama again. This post immediately gets deleted completely, because it turns out that the r/food mod who also moderates r/iamveryculinary also moderates r/subredditdrama. More people beg the mod to stop caring about the drama and spend time with her kids.
Another post is then made to r/subredditdramadrama, where the sandwich guy who was initially banned posts his conversation with the mod that banned him. Up until this point, the original mod had been arguing that the permanent ban wasn’t because of the chicken sandwich comment (which was only a 30 day ban), but because he had been rude to the mods when asking why. Screenshots show sandwich guy simply asking why he was banned and then apologizing for the chicken sandwich comment, only to be smugly told by the mod that he needs to “educate himself”, who also insinuates that he’s a weirdo and calls his comment shitty. Don’t miss this mod showing up in the comments of these screenshots and arguing with everyone else over them.
So basically the whole thing was one innocuous comment about a chicken sandwich which quickly spiralled into a multi-sub meltdown that has lasted for about two days now. Chicken sandwich guy has not, as far as I know, been unbanned as of yet.
I was craving a cheese burger late night so my buddy Jared and I went to the Wendy’s near my house to get some late night noms.
I got the #2, a double cheese burger, with fries and a HI-C.
I have to say, the new “hot and juicy” burger patties really made a difference in their burgers. The patties are thicker and, in fact, juicier. This makes for a better tasting burger overall.
The fries I am not so keen on, but in my opinion it is really hard to make a terrible french fry.
The meat has gotten better, but I am still fully aware that I am eating a fast food burger. I’ll get it again if I am craving a late night burger run.
i have been in america lately and tried its Various cuisine’s here is my review

rating: 5/5. ordering entirely through a little touchpad is a natural progression in a society of unwholesome, evil food production and distribution
HA1loween Burger (Halloween A-1 Burger) - Burger King
America
finally gets some black-themed burger buns! I’m so happy! Like all the
other food bloggers out there, I’m super jealous of all of the limited
edition burgers available in Japan. They’ve had red tomato powder burger buns, pink sakura buns, and even all black squid ink buns with black cheese and a black sauce. Our American version isn’t that intense, but hey, it’s a start!
The
HA1LOWEEN burger has black buns, but they aren’t squid ink-based like
the ones sold in Japan. Instead, these are “infused with A1 steak
sauce,” which is a popular condiment here in the states, but it actually
originated in the UK. The sauce alone doesn’t create the intense black
colored buns. As far as I can tell, this bun is the result of massive
amounts of food coloring, but we’ll talk a bit more about that
later…totally unrelated, but there will be some…trigger warning-type stuff towards the end of this review. I’ll flag it, but be warned: black burger buns come with some…unique side effects.
I’m back from Baltimore! After a very long drive back to Jersey (caused by the #@$%! Ravens game), I decided to treat myself for not succumbing to road rageby stopping at Burger King. At first I was just going to buy the new Halloween burger (with the black A-1 infused buns), but they also had this new milkshake…so I grabbed both! (After that drive, I deserved it. Treat yo’ self!)
Classic
chocolate Oreo bits and pumpkin spice? I don’t know about this one.
Let’s see if this shake is tasty, or just a gimmick. (The Halloween burger review will be up next!)
Welp…I
did it. I ordered a Slim Jim milkshake. Which is a thing that actually
exists. When I placed the order at the register, the two (really nice)
employees tried to talk me out of it, which is a pretty big red flag,
but I really wanted to get something fun to post on the blog, so I
ignored their warnings. May the foodie gods have mercy upon my stomach.
I might try the Slim Jim variety (only if it’s cricket-free),
but is this just a shock tactic? Are there people out there so
protein-crazed that they are demanding bug-based shakes? I get it,
protein is really trendy right now, but this? This has to be a ploy to
get a ton of publicity. If so, it works! Here I am writing about it
right now.
What is the foodie world coming to? Will any of you be trying the Oreo Mud Pie Cricket shake?

I DID IT! Oh boy, I better get ready to head into Philly a LOT more often.
The Double Cheeseburger Pizza is back! (Now with +1 Bacon)
Oh man! It’s back! I have been missing this pizza! I reviewed it last year, and was one of the few food bloggers to really enjoy it, so I’m very happy (and slightly surprised) to see it return. (Although we all knew if it was coming back it was totally going to have bacon. We all saw bacon coming a mile away.)
I missed this pizza so much, that I even made my own recipe, but now I won’t have to! I’ll definitely be ordering this later this week.
Are any of you excited that it’s back? Or am I the only one?
