Classic Crème Brûlée Kit - ????

My sister has been having a rough time this week and she was craving crème brûlée. My mother had this kit laying around since… I don’t even know when. She doesn’t even remember where she got it. I figured I’d try out and whip some dessert up for my sister.

Inside this box were two packets, a pudding/custard powder and a refined caramelizing sugar.
The whole thing was VERY easy to make. I heated some whipping cream and milk on the stove, added the custard packet, and stirred with a whisk for one minute. I poured the mixture into ramekins we already had and let it set. After it has set, top each ramekin with the refined sugar and broil it until it is all melted.
I didn’t think the sugar would puff up as much as it did so I put the ramekins on the top shelf of the oven. They got a little burnt. ^^;
The custard was very creamy and reminded me of tapioca pudding (without the pearls). The burnt areas tastes like burnt marshmallow, but the overall sugar was crispy and added a nice texture to the custard.
Overall this was a really easy kit and the results (when not burnt) are very impressive. If you see this around I would definitely recommend buying it. This dessert tastes good and the (unburnt) results would undoubtedly wow dinner guests.
