Puccho (Ultra Miracle w/AKB48) - Asian Food Market : Cherry Hill, NJ

Puccho are yummy chewy candies, similar to the brand Hi-Chew, that come in a variety of flavors. I was so excited, I bought one of each flavor in The Asian Food Market. The flavors are: cola, white strawberry (aka pineberry), and ultra miracle.
Today, we’ll be looking at ULTRA MIRACLE! The packaging is really bright and colorful. I really like how energetic it looks, but it is VERY busy. This flavor was the only one of the three to have the popular group AKB48 promo on the package. (If you don’t know who there are THIS has more info.)
Right now, AKB48 are doing a (kind of disturbing) promo for the candy. This promo involves all the girls of one group passing one of these candies down to each other using their mouths. This is a play on the candy’s name “puccho,” which is similar to a kiss. So the girls pass it ‘kiss-style’ to one another. It is only disturbing to me, because these girls are young, they are scouted by a company from schools to participate in this organization, and the extreme creepy reaction this commercial is getting from their older male fans. This is commercialism, not love.
Okay, enough creepy commercial rants, back to the candy itself. Now, what flavor is ultra miracle? The name doesn’t really tell us much at all, and the packaging doesn’t describe the flavor in English, so I had to look it up online. It is meant to be a sweet yogurt chew with stripes of pineapple and apple. Inside, there are sweet bouncy gummy spheres and some soda spheres. Let’s open it up and give it a try.
The wrapper shows the candy mascot in costumes or doing all sorts of activities. This time he looks like he is a little pirate! Adorable.
The candy itself is very similar to a high chew, but this is multicolored. I can see the apple and pine apple stripes on the outside and a hint of the gummies on the sides of the chew.
It doesn’t really smell like much, but when I put it in my mouth I was really surprised by how strong the flavors were! Right away I can taste the pineapple and the soda spheres. They fizz in your mouth just like the inside of Zots candy. The apple flavor becomes more obvious after the soda fizz dies down, and I could barely sense the little gummies inside.
These were REALLY refreshing. I wasn’t expecting this flavor to be so bright and fizzy. I really like this flavor and I hope it is a permanent addition and not some special limited flavor.

Kasugai Gummi Sampler (Muscat and Pineapple) - Chinatown, PA

To see what the other gummies tasted like, check out my reviews apple, grape and orange.
Time for the last two flavors-pineapple and muscat.

Lets start with muscat, muscat is a variation of grape and very popular in Japanese sweets. Will it be the same as the grape I had before? Why offer grape AND muscat in a sampler? Isn’t that a bit redundant?

The spring-green gummies smell like sparkling white grape juice. The smell is very strong, and it seems like it would be carbonated.

The coating on the muscat flavor seems to be more waxy than the others. A bit of the wax got stuck on my front teeth as I took a bite. (I did not enjoy that at all.) The chew is soft and bouncy, just like the apple, and the taste is crisp and refreshing.

It has a very light flavor, more white grape juice than grape jelly. I think this flavor is light and different enough to warrant it’s own bag in this sampler.

Moving on…pineapple!

I love pineapple everything. So I was very happy to see pineapple gummies. When I opened the bag, the smell wasn’t as strong as any of the other flavors.

The candy is almost crystalized on the outside, and they feel stiffer than any of the other flavors.

As I tasted the gummie…I was shocked. I feel like I am really eating pineapple. Dried sweetened pineapple! These are amazing. The flavors are so realistic that I almost forget I am eating a candy at all.

Out of all five of the flavors I have tried, I think pineapple and grape are the best of the bunch. I would definitely buy a full bag of those flavors. The worst? I’d have to say orange. The flavor and taste was concentrated and almost pulpy. I was not a fan.

Kasugai Gummi Sampler (Apple) - Chinatown, PA

I love Kasugai gummies! I have had the honeydew and strawberry flavors before and both were delicious. I have always wanted to try other flavors, but I didn’t want to commit to buying a full-size bag of them. This sampler is the perfect solution to that!
The sampler comes in a long strip with 5 different flavored gummies. In the selection we have: apple, muscat, orange, grape and pineapple. I think this is a nice collection of flavors and gives the buyer a decent amount of variety.
To kick things off, I’ll start with apple.
The packet has a nice little portion of candies inside, about 10, and they smell like a fruity white wine. The smell was a bit shocking, since the two flavors I have tried before this had smelled strongly of honey. The apple gummies have a bit of texture, they seem to be very lightly sugared which gives it the texture of a citrus-peel.
Time to taste! They have a soft and bouncy chew. The packaging says “Kasugai’s Gummy has the taste of apple juice,” but you get the strong taste of apple cider. It is a darker, sweeter, apple taste than apple juice. Afterwards, it has a dry almost wine-like finish.
I think these are yummy and different, but I am not a big fan of apple flavored things. I wouldn’t be buying the larger bag of this flavor, but I was happy to give it a try.

Haribo Dinosaurs - Five Below in The Gallery, PA

Another Haribo confection I had never had before! Looking at the candies, I thought they would be no different from Haribo Gummi Bears…but they are!

Each gummi dino is made of 2 flavors, and these flavors differ from the classic gummi bear formula of cherry, strawberry, lemon, pineapple and orange. I couldn’t find a listing of their flavors online, but from what I can taste these dinos are watermelon, banana, blue raspberry, strawberry and pineapple? (I am weary of the pineapple/clear ones. They might also be grapefruit. I really have no clue!)

Opening the bag everything smelled overpoweringly like banana runts! I am typically not a fan of faux banana scents or flavors, but thankfully all the flavors taste a LOT better than they smell. The fruity flavors are tangy and refreshing, and the candies have a soft bouncy chew.

I think these dinosaurs have earned a permanent place in my normal gummi candy rotation.
