Power Up Energy Drink - Five Below : The Gallery, Philadelphia, PA

Time for the last video game themed energy drink! Here we have Mario’s Power Up.

Just like the DK one, this can’s design is just a character against a basic background. At least DK had stars! Mario just gets a solid blue filler. It could have been a Mario stage or at least had little mushroom shapes on it.

Opening the can I could smell bubble gum. I HATE bubble gum flavored items so this was a very bad sign for me.

When I poured it I noticed that this the beverage is a peachy, almost clear, color. Totally different from the DK and Pac-man drinks that were both red and berry flavored.

The drink tastes like…I’m not really sure WHAT this tastes like. It has that slight Redbull taste that the other two drinks had, but it is mixed with some sort of fruit I can’t quite place. Maybe peaches? That would make sense with the color and Princess Peach. While it doesn’t really taste like peaches, or anything I can really place, the beverage isn’t that bad.

Overall these drinks were novelty items, but I have found that they taste a LOT better than some of the energy drink brands on the market. I think these drinks were a success and if they became widely available I think they would be pretty popular.

Haribo Dinosaurs - Five Below in The Gallery, PA

Another Haribo confection I had never had before! Looking at the candies, I thought they would be no different from Haribo Gummi Bears…but they are!

Each gummi dino is made of 2 flavors, and these flavors differ from the classic gummi bear formula of cherry, strawberry, lemon, pineapple and orange. I couldn’t find a listing of their flavors online, but from what I can taste these dinos are watermelon, banana, blue raspberry, strawberry and pineapple? (I am weary of the pineapple/clear ones. They might also be grapefruit. I really have no clue!)

Opening the bag everything smelled overpoweringly like banana runts! I am typically not a fan of faux banana scents or flavors, but thankfully all the flavors taste a LOT better than they smell. The fruity flavors are tangy and refreshing, and the candies have a soft bouncy chew.

I think these dinosaurs have earned a permanent place in my normal gummi candy rotation.

Haribo Raspberries - Five Below in The Gallery, PA

Gummy candies are my favorite. I went a bit overboard and bought a ton of Haribo sweets that were on sale. I never had these raspberries before, so this was the perfect chance to try them out.

The bag is a classic black and red design with a berry print. The print is beautiful! It reminds me of EGL (Elegant Gothic Lolita) dress patterns.

The candies smell like a mixture of blackberry and raspberry, so there is no chance mistaking these for their licorice counterparts.

Visually, these are adorable! They look like pretty little berries! These would be beautiful decorations for cupcakes or cakes, but the colors would bleed a bit into icings or frostings. These would also look precious in a china bowl for a lolita picnic or event!

Outside, the candy is covered by lightly raspberry flavored confectionery pearls. They are softer than nonpareils and crumble as you chew the candy. These little beads add a nice texture and mouth-feel, I’d eat a bag of just these!

The center isn’t a real gummy, it’s more like a Turkish delight. The inside has a bright raspberry flavor that pairs well with the candy coating.

I think these Haribo Raspberries are visually appealing AND tasty! A great sweet for any tea party, or Lolita gathering. If you like raspberries and chewy treats you MUST try these.

Chocorooms Meiji

More Meiji goodness! My sister grabbed these at a Five Below of all places! Weird.

I had seen these around on the net and they are so freaking cute!

They are little cookie stems, which taste very similar to Pocky, and a fudgy milk chocolate topper. The topper doesn’t taste like Pocky chocolate, more like the Meiji Choco Baby chocolate.

These are super cute and very yummy. I highly recommend them!
